Brian Kramer for State Attorney
Meet Brian
Brian Kramer was raised in Gainesville and graduated from Buchholz High School. His father, Dr. Dean Kramer, is a Gastroenterologist practicing medicine in Gainesville. His mother, Barbara Kramer, was a professor of Humanities and Ethics at Santa Fe College.
Brian holds an Associate’s degree from Santa Fe College, Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, and a Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law.
Brian has been a member in good standing of the Florida Bar for over 30 years. After law school Brian worked as a Public Defender for two years, later transferring to becoming an Assistant State Attorney. He has served as a prosecutor for 25 years and is currently the State Attorney, 8th Judicial Circuit. Brian is the chief law enforcement officer for the Eighth Judicial Circuit, working with and advising over 25 law enforcement agencies. He prosecutes the most serious criminal cases in the Circuit as well as handling the administrative oversight of the office.
Brian is an Adjunct Trial Practice Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He has served as the Chairman of the, and is a current commissioner for, the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 8th Judicial Circuit. He has served on the Executive Board for the Florida Bar’s Criminal Law Committee, and the 8th Circuit Grievance Committee B. He is involved in Rotary and is a member of the 8th Judicial Circuit Bar Association.
Brian lives in Gainesville with his wife, Annette. Annette is active in the community volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House and Elder Care. They have two daughters, Cassidy, who attends Columbia University School of Dental Medicine, and Hailey, who is graduating from Vanderbilt University and will be attending medical school in the fall of 2024.

It is important that the State Attorney’s office effectively handles cases to protect citizens and efficiently operates to save tax dollars. As your State Attorney, Brian Kramer has reduced costs and improved efficiency. As technology and laws change, so must the office to keep up with a judicial system constantly changing to handle a growing population and larger caseloads. Brian Kramer has the experience needed to guide the State Attorney’s Office into the future.
Advocating for Victims
Victims deserve to have a voice in the justice system. For 24 years Brian Kramer has worked as a prosecutor to be a voice for victims of crime. Brian has worked to enforce the law and protect our most vulnerable, even creating Florida’s first State Attorney’s Automated Victim Information Access System so that victims may have access to real-time information.
Keeping Our Community Safe
As State Attorney, Brian has successfully prosecuted the most high profile cases in our Circuit. Brian Kramer works with community organizations to reduce crime and with law enforcement to keep dangerous criminals off our streets, protecting our families. Brian is a public servant who has dedicated his life to making our community safer.
